Post subject: AWARD BIOS IDs - what the "C" means |
|
|
According to this DTK page ...
http://www.dtk.com.tw/download/bios.html
... the "C" after the chipset ID in an Award BIOS ID string "is the acronym of Copyright".
<quote>

BIOS ID is "2A59GG39". The end of "C" is the acronym of "Copyright".
<end quote>
Maybe the following statement should be amended or clarified to reflect the above:
http://www.wimsbios.com/awardnumbers.jsp
... "the C-00 at the end doesn't mean much".

Why would server boards have a B there then? I can't imagine they are not copyrighted. I think this is just to reduce the calls and emails about it.
