Hi all,

I try to change from 1.4Go dead disk to this new IBM 10Go on a 1997 notebook.
The HDD has 16383 Cyl, 16 Heads, 63 sect/track: these values are shown in bios HDD settings, but total capacity is set a 8Go: after partition can be created, but any Microsoft boot disks stop.

I check the bios: SystemSoft Bios for UMC8890 version 1.01
1.00.1.00 04-09-97 20BW

I found no Datajet or SystemSoft support/upgrade on the web.

Can someone tell me how to configure this hard drive to be accessible ?
I've got other parameters possible in drive setting in Bios: Multiple sector mode, landing zone, write precomp.
(even if its capacity has to be truncated, 8Go would be enough)

Thanks very much for your help
Eric.

Any other inscriptions on your notebook? Datajet support is truly hard to find.

What's written on the (typical) sticker under your laptop?

I had no other inscriptions on the notebook...
So I finally gave up updating the bios, I installed the IBM DOS tool Disk Manager to overcome the 8Go limit, and it's working this way, even if it is software slow solution.

Thanks anyway for your reply.
Eric.
