NO SOUND PLAYING CD-ROM

My mobo is m747 v5.0 BX PRO,on board 3D sound PRO & video,I get sound from the speakers in windows 98,and from the cd-rom headset plug, in front of the cd-rom drive ,but without the headset,no sound when playing cd.On the board it have 2 sets of pins each set has 2 pins(cd1 & cd2).The cd-rom is connected to cd1 while cd2 is free.Cd-rom drive is Acer 32x.What can I do to hear music from the cd-rom without the headset?Thanks.Nana.

Tried to connect to CD2 ?
Please read your manual how the CD-Audio Pin-out is on these connectors and verify it with the pin-out from the CDROM and the cable connectors
> white shoud be signal/left and red signal/right and black is 0/ground
