I have a Fujitsu Scenic Et computer with an Award Modular BIOS, v6.00PG. Just bought a 60 GB Western Digital and it's not working. Inside the BIOS it is reported as 32 GB in size, while in W2K it is reported as 8 GB (using either windows tools and Partition Magic).

I've searched extensively for a new version of the BIOS but nothing seems to match exactly so I guess I'll have to take something that is close enough...

Can anyone tell me what is close enough?

Here is the detailed description. What do I need (and where can I get it)?

Program: Unicore BIOS Wizard Version 1.5
BIOS Date: 11/11/99
BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG
BIOS ID: 11/11/1999-i810E-6A69MM49C
BIOS Eval: W6183F4 V1.1 111199 14:49:22
Chipset: Intel Whitney 82810E rev 3
Superio: Winbond 627F/HF rev 3 found at port 2Eh
OEM Signon: W6183F4 V1.1 111199 14:49:22
BIOS Signon: 11/11/1999-i810E-6A69MM49C-00

That BIOS should support 60GB correctly. Anyway, your board seems to be the MS-6183

I've already checked that site and it says version 1.1 is the latest version of the BIOS. I already have that version so I won't bother trying that.

The Fujistu-Simens sites (http://www.fujitsu-siemens.co.uk and http://www.fsc-pc.de/support/softwareassist_e.asp) indicate that there is a new BIOS available but then indicate that the BIOS in my box should be one of: 2A69J60Y, 2A69KG0FC or 2A69KM4E. That is the wrong chipset for me so I'm not using any of those.

Please check your Harddrive for a 32GB Limitation jumper - your drive is limited to 32GB !!!
The correct model number should be printed onto the Mainboard - MS6183 or MS6183E .

Spot on Embarassed . Actually, I had a jumper that was marked for 'Cable select setting' as active. What bugs me is that I was using this disk to back up some data. I was able to install it in another computer, format it, and fill it with data. I then unplugged it and installed it in this computer and nothing worked. Installed as slave in both instances.

But anyway, thanx for the help. At least it was only me being stupid. I was on the verge of just scrapping the computer and getting a new one. Perhaps I should just do that anyway. I mean, what's with the missing AGP slot on the MS-6183? Smile
