then this comes up (running diagnostic)

invalid opcode at f000 9f40 0202 f601 e003 0e00 etc...

any ideas what is causing this? My laptop won't boot, just endlessly loops from winxp and back to boot. One beep on post. bad controller?

you all must be way more savvy than I at this.

Will it boot from diskette or CD?
Could be that the XP image on disk is corrupted or that the RAM has developed a fault, among other things.
