Post subject: Bios Update STUCK! Help! |
|
|
Recently installed a new HD.
Have been having issues with my PB 5106 (S/N: 010906820142) where windows error reporting kept asking me to update my bios.
Have just downloaded the latest update onto a DOS diskette, then booted.
Am stuck on:
Starting...
A:\>mode con codepage prepare=(850) ega.cpi)
MODE prepare code page function completed
A:\>mode con codepage select=850
MODE select code page function completed
A:\>keybuk,,keybrd2sys
A:\>
A:\>
What should I do now?
Thanks everyone

Same size/make HD.
Faster processor but that was changed over a year ago (supported by Mobo)
The P.Bell Website says my Gigabyte Mobo model number is: ga81dmnf.
Can't find it on their website.

I was unable to run the bios update. Have done so now (had copied & not 'run' the update onto the floppy)
Problem still not fixed unfortunately (system unstable)
Although thanks for your help KachiWachi - much appreciated

PC kept giving out DLL error messages, Bios update suggestions (after IE7 crashes) and this morning - Blue Screen:
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Put in original CPU (upgraded 2 years ago).
Warning 'siren' on boot (never heard that before)
Swapped back CPU - Nothing. Checked cables, tried booting to bios - nothing.
Pulled out the CPU to find 3-4 of of the pin sockets on mobo burnt (had used compound).
Thinking about buying new mobo but would go crazy if I was 'starting where I left off.
Thanks for all your help KachiWachi
