well okay. I'll try this : http://zurich.csail.mit.edu/hypermail/t ... /0914.html
I just need some information.
do you think this program http://www.uniflash.org/download.htm will work?
my bios files are $0037000.fl1 and $0037000.fl2. I see another web page that talk about flashing with this two files and the one who need to be renamed in bios.rom is a *.fl1.
the second thing that make me guess it'll work is that the platform.bin file is the small one (wow! it's hard to explain when you don't practice english). $0037000.fl1 is bigger than the *.fl2.
the last thing is if the platform.bin is not the good one then the flashing wont work because (stop me if I'm wrong) the platform.bin give to the flash program the information for the motherboard.
so did anyone can agree with me?
and can you tell me my english's gramatical fault .
I'll waiting for your respons.
flashing bios without battery thinkpad 600e
ok sharedoc I knew that solution to, but let me explain something.
I bought this TP for about 30 euros, the precedent owner, because of an 8611 error, modified the bios with an hexa edit and do dirty work (think it's a miracle that TP turn on again).
it's impossible to access bios (I try all f1, to f12 and association with ctrl and alt) so it's impossible to correct it.
I don't even know how does that computer run before.
so you'll understand I don't really want to spend more money in this thing before I'm sure that run properly.
If you have more ideas........
hmm just something else. I want to use this TP for a DIY video projection. see below (be careful frenchies inside ) : http://www.allinbox.com/

Why do you want flash the bios, if your troubles are elsewhere (trackball)?
Trackball error 8611 has been treated in another track.

I'm not clear in my precedent post. I say in order.
- The precedent owner had an 8611 error.
- he modified the bios with an hexadecimal editor and do it badly.
- he sell me the thinkpad.
- I can't access bios setup and do the correction.
- the TP run very slowly (about 400 minutes (6-7 hours)for win 98 installation)
that's why I have to flash. I never seen this TP run properly and can't expect any more problems.
for the error with the trackpoint, I know some tips to disable it.
I hope you'll understand.

One possible reason for being extremele slow might be if the previous owner had reset the L1 and L2 cache enabling bits in CMOS byte 20. Can you check the contents of those bits?
CMOS can be reset to originalsettings by removing the bios battery for 1 minute. (Warning: then you get back the 8611 error also).

hey it's sounds great!
I don't know what he really doing, he just say me that he entered hexaeditor with ctrl+d in the bios setup and replace a 62 value by ff (I think he done something like that : http://matt.ucc.asn.au/thinkpad.html and it's like you say)
unfortunately, I can't enter the bios setup (I don't know why).
i'll try to reset cmos tonight. thank you.
