I have just put together this abit KT7a with an AMD XP 1800 processor and when I boot up, I get checksum error, so, I go to the bios, do nothing (except save and exit), but upon exit the system will not boot at all.
I've tried flashing the bios to a version that (per Abit) is specifically meant to support the xp 1600 thru 1900, but I get the same result.
It almost seems like a memory error - I'm using one 512MB PC133 DIMM, but can't explain why it would boot at all if that were the case.
Any other experience like this? Thanks ahead of time for any clues!

Try loading the BIOS defaults and clearing the CMOS jumper.
Hopefully its not much more complicated then that...
