Hola!
I kindly ask for a '34GB-bug' (or more) patched BIOS of BIOS rev2.9 for the Gigabyte GA-586VX BIOS (07/11/97-i430VX-8669-2A59GG0CC-00).
Any help gladly appreciated,

Thanks for the hint, but I was not able to find that one on ajz's site.
I (hopefully successfully -- not yet checked) applied the simple 34GB patch myself upon the genuine GA-586VX vx-2.9 bios. Now there remain some questions:
(a) Can I continue to use a 8.4GB HDD formatted using the unpatched BIOS version without dataloss? I guess I can, because the increased head divisor comes into play only for larger HDDs. Am I right?
(b) The genuine v2.9 BIOS' HDD autodetect shows 255 heads for a 8.4GB HDD's LBA parameters -- isn't that what the very patch should achieve?
I again appreciate your helping answer,

Sorry! Just found AJZ's version (http://wims.rainbow-software.org/ajz/Gi ... -586VX.zip)
Seems to implement both, the simple 34GB (throwing away the two sanity checks) and the large capacity display-bug (.ge. 65GB), correct?
Answers to remaining questions still appreciated...

a) Smaller HDDs will work as before
b) That's OK. The bug is that the size calculation code in BIOS causes divide overflow
That BIOS at wims is patched to work with HDDs up to 128GB.
