Something wrong with the login?

I have to login twice to get the three options "View Your Posts", "View Posts Since Last Visit" and the other one, although the "Users now browsing:" does show me as logged in while the top header does not - it still says "Log In", and not "Log out [jiteo]". Anyone else experiencing this?

All the BIOSes I have seen did support it, but I haven't seen all that much compared to others here.

Just browse around the menus and options. Eventually you'll get to something like Boot Order or First Boot Device, Second Boot Device, and so on. Change it!

enjoy!

Ahh. Server. Well what distro you use? There's package dmidecode for Debian Testing/Unstable http://packages.debian.org/unstable/utils/dmidecode.

Ahh. I don't know of any, but you can always write down the ID string while the computer is booting up.

lspci will give you devices on the PCI bus, including the host bridge (which I think is the shouthbridge on the motherboard, but don't take my word for it). But exactly do you want identified? Chipset? BIOS?

Heh heh, yeah the floppy is being accessed. I've pretty much given up on the bootblock BIOS. It seems other people had the same problem with it and ended up either hot-flashing or replacing the chip. I'll try hot-flashing. If you look at previous posts in this thread, I had the wrong ISA pin when I ...

Before hot-flashing you need to make sure that the two BIOS chips are compatible. What this means: - same voltage - same size - same pinout I used http://devicedatabase.dataman.com/ to look up these specs. You need to know the ID of both chips. They look something like W290C20 and are beneath the st...

I've tried DOS boot disks of various versions from various places, and a GRUB boot sector too. Nothing.

I should have read a bit before posting. What does not work with DMA2 might work with DMA3, but I don't see why that would have a bearing on the floppy not being booted from.

New Update. Yey! Got myself an ISA floppy controller, and found the IRQ/DMA/IO combination that works with the jumpers (thank you plug and play, thank you!). However any boot disk that I stick in there gives me the same error: insert system disk and press enter. I've tried the DrDOS disk from bootdi...

How come evgeniy_xp's "Help. Strange thing!" is lo

So yeah. Why? I was going to suggest that his MBR got fried.

Note to self: never get into techy stuff when tired. It'll lead to more embarrassment then you can handle.
