Hi:
I've been trying to upgrade my HP Pavilion 8750c (MEW-AM, socket 370, Intel 810e) to be able to run Win XP with 512meg of memory. While I have been able to load Win XP, it won't work with both 256meg sticks in (both tested good). It will run with one or the other or even one 256meg and one 64meg. The BIOS can see both 256meg sticks, but it won't boot into Windows.
I'm looking for a BIOS upgrade that will solve this problem.
Thanks.
BIOS Upgrade to run Win XP on Pavilion 8750c
I know that Windows XP will work with the memory configuration you are trying.
But perhaps, if Windows XP was installed before you tried the 2 * 256MB sticks, then this could be the problem. Maybe also a memory configuration issue in Windows XP itself; have a look at the settings before you put the 2 sticks in together and see what you may be able to change to get it to accept the memory.
IIUC (If I Understand Correctly), your BIOS is correctly reporting 512MB memory.
Possibly one of the 256MB sticks are faulty.
