Hi!
Recently i bought a secondhand 486 Motherboard. A first I thought it would be easy to get a manual. But now i can''t find out exactly what type of board it is.
I hope there is someone overhere who can help me!
Here are some specs:
Processor: 486SX,DX,DX2,DX4?? (Socket 3)
Chipset: UMC 8881 8886
Memory: 4x 72-pinns simm
Slots: 4x PCI and 4x ISA
There is also a IDE controller on board, however no floppy, com ports and LPT ports. I have a seperate controller for them.
Award Bios string:04/18/95-UMC-881-886A-2A4X5V31-00, according to wim's biospage it is a Vtech motherboard, but which one?
There is also a code written on the PCB: 70271B 35-8216-01 00063-10
Just above the UMC 8886 cip there is a sticker which says: H24 B1
Here's a picture of it:

I hope there is someone out there who can help me to find a manual or at least the jumper setting! Thanks in advance!
Merry christmas and a happy new year!

Please explain how he got the bios ID string then. I don't believe a board will boot without a keyboard controller chip...
I think I have got a manual or jumper settings in PDF for this one somewhere. Keep an eye on your mailbox.

Must be a different revision or someone got the manuals mixed up, the one I have here has only 3 PCI slots and all onboard I/O.
We'll have to do another search...

This is weird. I go through the 5 or 6 unscanned manuals I've got. In there there is one called 486UPI by PcPartner. And it is absolutely spot on. Looks like I have to make 19 scans...

The UMC UM8881+UM8886 chipset has built-in keyboard controller. I have two boards with this chipset and both have no separate keyboard controller. So the KBC on that board might be an extra option...although don't know for what.

edwin: Hint for the future: When saving the scanned images, decrease color depth to 8 or even 4 colors and then save as PNG. The resulting files will be smaller than JPGs with better quality (lossless compression).
