Hi,
I have a Vaio Notebook PCG R505 GL.
One of my friends basically screwed my BIOS with a bad flash.
I took it to one place and they tried to rip me off and say I had to pay $2500 to get it fixed because the BIOS was soldered onto the Motherboard.
I have heard that BIOS chips can be reprogrammed and replaced but have read that reprogrammers / replacers online will not de-solder the Bios chips from the Motherboards on Notebooks/laptops.
But, I have read that they DO de-solder Bios Chips from motherboards on desktops.
MY QUESTION: Is it possible to De-solder a Bios chip from a motherboard on a notebook computer?
Apparently getting a new motherboard is going to cost me more than the innitial price of the full computer which is ludicrous.
Any help anyone can give me is appreciated!! Thanks!
Pete.

Contact Sony directly with the info you have so far, one of their agents is trying to r*p you off, let's hope there's an honest one near your town.
