Hello !
I have DELL Dimension 2400 motherboard ( same is in Optiplex 160L I think ) - 845GV with onboard Sound,VGA,LAN. I know that this is an Intel made motherboard, but I can't find which one, so probably some custom made for DELL . Now, I want to have Intel BIOS on this board ( or any other but Dell's one ).
1. What are the chances for success flashing this board with BIOS from some similar INTEL board with same chipset ? Anyone had any experience with this ?
2. Is there any way of editing the built in BIOS ? I can't find a way to edit it with Phoenix BIOS editor. I need decompressor first right ? The only decompressor I found is Anton's DellDeco which doesn't seem to support this board ?
Please help...
Many thanks in advance...
Intel BIOS for Dell's motherboard ?
make sure it 's really a intel mb and its model printed on the mb just like D845GVAD2 or others
for intel mb bios I can combine its original bios.
for intel mb bios I can combine its original bios.

It will be a special build for Dell, possibly by Intel, although I've heard rumours Mitac is now making boards for them as well. Your board has 3 PCI slots, so the closest Intel boards appear to be:
D845GVFN: http://support.intel.com/design/motherb ... vfn_lg.jpg
D845GVSR: http://support.intel.com/design/motherb ... 45GVSR.jpg
I didn't include the images in the post because they are somewhat large.

Yes, I'm sure it's an Intel board - but model isn't printed on the board. Bios ID is 0F5949 and the same number is printed on the board
This is my board:

On geeks.com and several other sites with same picture it says that this is D845GLVAL
But this is also D845GLVAL :
http://www.mks-shop.com/estore/db/35000 ... 9877_1.jpg
and this second picture is much more similar to other Intel 845GV boards currently supported on Intel's site and to those pictures that zonxar posted.
Obviously, these are not same boards.
Do you think that they are " enough similar" ? Do you think that bios for D845GLVAL will work for me ?
@sunbirds: When you say "combining original bios", do you think on extracting bios from Intel's installer as normal 512KB bios ?

Your first link says the board uses the 845GL chipset, and this at the bottom:
The Dell Dimension 2400 technical specifications say it uses the 845GV chipset. Are you able to run a program like Everest Home that might identify what chipset you have?Disclosures:
This is a Dell OEM motherboard, but is made by Intel. The plastic shroud around the CPU fan connector may need to be removed for use with standard CPU fan/heatsink assemblies.

Here is the link to the Intel D845GLVA support page (where you can download the manual):
http://support.intel.com/support/mother ... /index.htm
I'm wondering if the L suffix is simply the boxed version with Lan?
