I have read a few of the fixes, however since the sytem stops I cannot update any bios through a floopy disk.
Does WIM have a bios that can replace the one in MY IBM Thinkpad.
The power supply seems ok, this happend when my battery went dead. I have not replaced the 2032 battery, but just unplgged it to clear the cmos. still shows same error. do you have to have a working battery befor you retest.

Is there a way to flash the bios on a corrupted IBM think pad with this error. SInce I cant access the floppy?
I saw reply from Bios Guru, but dont understand, is there a bios that completely replaces the one in the laptop

What exactly happens with your Laptop ?
Black screen or does it try to boot but does not find any bootable device ?
It may be possible you need to have a working battery installed to use your laptop, maybe a look in your service manual helps in this question.

I get the Error 0175, bad CRC1, stop error.
So it never boots beyond this. it all points to Bios problem, I have a good battery for the main power, but the Bios Battery 2032 was what I was reading could be bad. I just unplugged it and got another 3volt battery
correct polarity and hooked it up. same stop error while booting.
So Bios needs to be re-flashed or replaced. thou IBM says system board??
Is there a way to flash using USB port?
Thanks

there's a problem with these books(T20,T21). Solution is only rstore the eeprom with a correct one. but you can reflash the eeprom if you unsolder it, and make a simple i2c programmer. but you'll need a right dump.
