Hi!
I'm planning to buy a new processor, which'll be "Athlon II X4 620 AM3 2.6GHz 2MB Cache 45nm Processor." I'll use it with a "Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD3P" motherboard.
I've looked at Gigabyte's website and saw that this motherboard does not natively support Athlon II X4 AM3 cpus. It requires a BIOS update. Now, my question is; will I be able to boot the computer at all, so as to install that BIOS update? Or will the computer be unable to boot as it doesn't recognise the cpu?
Thanks in advance
AM3 support and possible boot problem

Sometimes a board will boot but with failsafe settings for the CPU, sometimes it will not boot at all. No experience with AMD gigabyte boards, I know my Asrock refused to boot at all with a CPU that was not in the table. If it isn't booting, borrow a CPU you know that works to update the bios...

I see. I just hope I can find someone with an AMD processor if things go wrong.
