Still here :-) Ok, for one thing on the PCI slots, there seems to be no way to get them to run with 0 wait states. The experiments I did showed they will run with 1 wait state no matter what. The same PCI Sata raid card/raid stripe set plugged into the a8ae-le showed 60mb/s, peak 63. Taking that com...

I did enable the bios section that allowed choosing the output, kept it set at 'auto' and WinXP refused to boot. Dos and Fedora Core 4 64bit worked fine. I assume it was a vid driver issue in XP, probably just needed to set to VGA, flash, reboot and then let windows find drivers. I did not go that f...

TracerX: "5308. I finally let the computer just sit and run. After awhile the computer finally got to checking all the hard drives and then the install background came up but no install dialogs. I haven't even managed to get vista on the machine, this is all trying to install. The install seems to b...

What are the symptoms? I had a blank screen, all else seemed functional (I could mouse click, etc and have it react). Which version of Vista? I did use it on 5308 with the drivers included in 5308, not the ones from the ATI site, did not need them. For 5270 I think you need the ATI site drivers (not...

BassKozz and TracerX, response below BassKozz: ----------- Shift+F10, do you still have the recovery partition on your HD? I noticed the lack of this message also but chalked it up to not having the recovery partition on my drive(s). As far as bios tweaks for memory, by far the biggest affect on mem...

Seems to be some type of ATI (Vendor ID=1002) audio device (class 04) but the subclass code 03 does not register. On the sr1750nx the AC97 media is class 04 and subcalss 01. Interesting there is no device ID listed. Anything in your bios that manipulates audio devices? As far as how I generated the ...

"Where can I find modbiosv6 and cbrom?" I gather you found them? :-) "After modding this Bios, WinXP has found a new PCI device... any idea on what this might be?" Open up XP's device manager, navigate to the new device and open properties, then details, then the drop down to 'Compatible IDs'. What ...

FWIW: I was succesful in replacing the VGA bios in the v3.13 with one from an MSI-7093 board. I now get full aeroglass in Vista rather than a blank screen. Full details on my site:
Full details on my site
This should be applicable to the v3.10 bios because it uses the same rev of VGA bios from ATI.

There is an option in the 'Power' menu, but just because it is there does not mean the setup will give you access to it. I added the full bios tree choices to my page, check it out. A snippet: Power ───|─After AC Power F ├─WOL in S4 ├─APIC ├─S3 ├─Power LED in Sta └─XXXXX It is possible changing some...

I have been doing some experiments with modding the HP bios for the A8AE, there may be some info in the page I put together that can provide some insight: Click here for the page of info The bad news is there are no available settings for shadowing but there are for bios cacheable. I took it one ste...
