almost a few years late in responding but

you need something like AFUDOS.exe instead of Awdflash.exe to flash update an AMI bios from a bootable usb flash drive

Awdflash is for Award bioses only

maybe ask someone in Intel Forums if attempting to do the bios recovery method doesn't work in fixing the boot block problem
