Hi Rainbow. I don't know either how the BIOS became corrupted, since it worked at first I thought everthing had to be fine. Perhaps AWDFLASH, which froze at the end of the flashing, didn't write the boot block correctly? I don't think I have to hot-flash again, maybe using UniFlash I'll be able to c...

How I did a successful hot flash and brought to life my motherboard (You people helped me, now I shall help the others, so I will tell my story) I am the happy owner of a Soyo motherboard – the 486 PCI/VESA Green Mainboard – 4SA W2/W5. Its chipset is SiS-85C496-497, very stable in my opinion. It ha...

Message from UniFlash about Boot block
Hi. I tried to use UniFlash to hot flash a chip from a different motherboard and I got the message: Boot block mismatch. Proceed anyway? So I tried to flash it including the boot block, and I got the same message. question: Is this "boot block" the one of the system running currently (of which I hav...

How could I identify the voltage regulator on the motherboard? How can I check it? There is a 4-pins black component where we can read PQ30RV21/SHARP/21/F6. It is screwed into a big heatsink and it is near the voltage-select jumpers. The jumpers are set to 3.45 V, the correct setting for the process...

Now I've got a new mainboard, a Shuttle HOT-433, and the processor Interl 486-DX4 is running OK on it, at 100 MHz. I guess the processor isnt hurt. The Soyo motherboard is still dead, be with the 486, be with the AMD-586-133MHz. It worked 10 minutes after the flashing, so it suddenly stopped and nev...

I thoght it was worth the risk. And after all, the other program managed to read and sabe the original BIOS program. But now, I confess, I am desolated. The board was a "Soyo 486 PCI/VESA GREEN MAINBOARD" motherboard, and the original BIOS was a Award: Award Modular BIOS v4.50 PG 1984-95 Award Softw...

These two files are all I got from the original BIOS. The awdflash didnt manage to get a image from the chip before the flashing, so I used other program which I dont remember the name. By looking at the strings in the file we can see that it has something to do with the BIOS program. So I think I h...

And the file that a program read from the BIOS to save the original image: it is a image of the BIOS before the flashing but it doesnt seem to have the same format that a .BIN. In fact, I got two files, called E000 and F000, so I concatenated the two files and called it EF000.BIN. And then I tried t...
